My Shopping Genie Update!

Well, folks – it seems that My Shopping Genie is no more.  According to Business for Home, who actually posted a Scam Warning for My Shopping Genie back in February, the company has called it quits.

So, it’s clear I did not do quite enough vetting on this one.  Ted called it and he was right.  The main failure of this particular MLM company was at the leadership level.  You can read his post here.

The My Shopping Genie application is certified to by spyware and adware free. It also does not pass along your personal information or your shopping trends. So if a person tends shop online quite frequently (I know I do!), then I’ve heard the program can actually help you save upwards of $200 per month or more.

This claim may or may not be true.  My guess is that it can possibly save some of the super shoppers out there that much, but I’m not sure I’d realize that level of savings.

So, are the My Shopping Genie Scam tales true?

It’s hard to say.   Chances are the My Shopping Genie scam reports you read out there are written by disgruntled people who never really understood that there is actual “work” in the network marketing scenario.  However, you should always do your homework and talk to as many people as you can who are already in any given opportunity you’re looking at before you join.

Remember – the people matter more than the product.  You have to believe in the company to come across as genuine when you’re marketing it.

There are two legitimate ways to make money using this software.  One, is if people use it to make purchases, the other is if you recruit others in to distribute the software.

The app and potential savings are free. However, if you want to sign up to distribute the genie, you’ll need to pay a one time $199 fee and $29.95 per month to keep your license active. As a distributor, you can then give away the app and earn an average of $3 for every app that is downloaded, installed, and USED.

Folks using the My Shopping Genie app is the real key to any earnings you hope to make.

You are not guaranteed to earn $3 per give away, but you earn a combination of monies generated from pay-per-click, pay-per-sale, and pay-per-offer commissions. So the bottom line is you might give away 100 of these price comparison apps and think you will make a solid $300 or so – but the reality is you might not make a dime unless your new customers actually USE the app when they are in shopping mode.  This doesn’t give any credence to the My Shopping Genie scamp rumors.  It’s just the way the business runs, and the company is up front about it.

I can tell you that the My Shopping Genie app is getting around.  A friend of my in Canada just asked me about it yesterday, which actually prompted me to write this review!

Another way to earn money is to sponsor and recruit new MyNet Universe distributors. The company pays $100 each time you personally refer two new distributors, plus a $10 per month residual as long as your new team members stay active and continue to pay the $29.95 monthly licensing fee.

You also will earn a 20% commission on all the free genie apps they give away that earn a commission. So the plan seems solid.

So as I said, the My Shopping Genie Scam reports are unfounded.  This is a solid company. However, like any real network marketing business, there are those few who will sign up and make a lot of money, many who will make some money, and the majority who sign up won’t even make enough to cover the monthly expense of being a distributor.

So, What’s the Secret to Succeeding with My Shopping Genie? 

You’ve made it through the My Shopping Genie Scam jungle.  Great!  But how do you achieve success with this program? Bottom line, the secret to success with this program and any other lies within you.  Put simply, you must be prepared to drive as much traffic to your application and get as many people using it and sharing it as you can.

Think about it. Let’s assume you decide to pay the $200 to get started. The company gives you a nice web site and a license to distribute the genie. Now what are you going to do?
